An immersion in the Atlantic Forest, culture, history and gastronomy of Paraty.
Just a few minutes from Paraty Old Town Centre, Fazenda Bananal is a retreat nestled in the Atlantic Forest, located on a historic 17th-century estate with 180 hectares of preserved land. Dedicated to hosting group events, Bananal welcomes corporate gatherings, celebrations, and educational experiences surrounded by nature, with carefully curated programs for each occasion and paired with “farm-to-table” cuisine.
Committed to the conservation of the Atlantic Forest and the development of the region, Fazenda Bananal also carries out social initiatives, such as the Cultivar Program, the Nossas Raízes Project, and the Bananal Fair, which promote environmental education, cultural appreciation, and support for local producers and communities.
Fazenda Bananal is the result of careful work of restoration and reforestation. The communal living areas draw parallels between biodiversity and local culture and function as spaces for well-being, learning and fun, integrated into the natural landscape.
Fazenda Bananal is a unique and authentic refuge of harmony between humanity and nature.
We work together with the communities in the region to connect our visitors to the local culture and the Atlantic Forest, promoting environmental awareness through immersive experiences.
Here, sustainable production consists of agroforestry systems (SAFs), a vegetable garden, and an orchard. This combination forms the foundation of our planting and harvesting practices and serves as the source of our healthy, organic cuisine made with fresh ingredients.
Bananal has two SAFs; the larger of the two has been in operation since 2015 and covers an area of 4 hectares. This system promotes collaboration among different plant species, which work together to increase soil fertility—for example, through the accumulation of fallen leaves and branches—and to raise humidity levels thanks to the partial shade they provide.
In addition to native Atlantic Forest species, this sustainable production method includes fruit-bearing species from different regions. In total, there are more than 60 species of food-producing plants.
