Sustainable and
alternative food

Unconventional Edible Plants (PANCs), often called “weeds” or “wild herbs,” are edible plants rich in nutrients. Most of them carry stories of local culture, with traditional uses passed down through generations.

The significance of PANCs goes beyond their nutritional value. They are a vital link between humans and the ecosystem, thriving in harsh soils and adapting without the need for pesticides or chemical inputs. Unlike many conventional crops, PANCs often flourish naturally, symbolizing resilience and adaptation.

In this guided walk, our expert will help you identify some of these species at Fazenda Bananal. The tour ends deliciously with the collective preparation of a PANC-based ice cream crafted with fresh ingredients from the forest.
